Personality Type: ISTJ The Inspector

ISTJ (Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging) represent one of the 16 personality types found on the Myers – Briggs Personality Indicator (MBTI). The ISTJ personality style is reserved, sensible, and quiet by nature. They value structure and order in all aspects of their lives, including their homes, workplaces, families, and projects. ISTJs respect history and put a high value on loyalty in themselves and others.

Main Characteristics

  • ISTJs are planners, they like to carefully plan things out well in advance. They enjoy an orderly life.
  • ISTJs are both responsible and realistic. They take a logical approach to achieving goals and completing projects and are able to work at a steady pace toward accomplishing these tasks.
  • ISTJs also prefer law and order. They prefer to follow rules and procedures that have previously been established.

Popular Career Path

INTJs typically do well in careers that integrate their strong ability to understand and evaluate complex information with their ability to put this knowledge into practice. Careers that allow the INTJ to work independently and autonomously are also ideal. Such as:

  • Accountant
  • Computer Programmer
  • Dentist
  • Doctor
  • Librarian
  • Lawyer
  • Police Officer or Detective
  • Military Leader

Personal Relationship

ISTJs like to spend their time alone or in small groups of friends. This personality type is usually incredibly loyal and dedicated to their families and friends, but they may fail to recognise their own emotions and others’ feelings. They can be quiet and have a hard time picking up on other people’s emotional cues. However, if they get attached to others and have a better understanding of their desires and wishes, they can go to great lengths to meet those needs.
