ISFJ is one of the 16 personality groups defined by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator which is a combination of Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging. Isabel Myers and her mother Katherine Briggs developed the MBTI based on psychoanalyst Carl Jung’s theories. ISFJ traits are reserved, warm–hearted, and responsible by nature.
- Structure attracts to ISFJs, and they strive for it in all aspects of their lives. Though introverts and quiet by nature, people with this personality style are keen listeners and are focused on others.
- ISFJs are amazing at knowing their own emotions, but they have a hard time expressing them. Rather than sharing their emotions, they can keep them bottled up, which may lead to negative feelings about others.
- ISFJs learn well in a well organized and coherent atmosphere with simple goals and step-by-step guidance.

People sometimes mistake the ISTJ’s quiet personality as aloofness. ISFJs, on the other hand, are generous and loving toward others, always striving to ensure the welfare and well-being of others without expecting much in return. ISFJs have a small circle of very close friends. They can be quiet and relaxed around strangers, but when they are around their BFF, they are more likely to “let loose.” They put a great emphasis on strong connections and are still able to help and care about others who are close to them.
